Tell me about the time and place you were born…

I was born on the 26th of June 1938, sometime around 4 or 5 am, I think, at the home of my Mum and Dad, 9 Grenfell Avenue, Mexborough, Yorkshire. I don’t remember anything really about Mexborough as we left there when I was about 13 months old as my Dad was transferred in his job to Huddersfield, where I spent the rest of my childhood.
